Basic Space X Chair Futur
October 2019
Basic Space is happy to introduce Chair Futur and #basicspaceXchairfutur: a digital residency running along October 2019 on digital platforms, culminating in workshops by the artists in Dublin and Belfast.
Chair Futur project is a collaboration between artists Małgorzata Rabczuk and Melanie Peduzzi. They are in production (and continuing development) of a video-performance project that is shot in various locations around Europe, with the video material to be be recorded on a NFC implant chip and implanted in their bodies during the final performance for the audience to interact with.
Basic Space co-directors will be in discussion with the artists through digital platforms, supporting the project development towards the Dublin leg of the production, inviting our digital community to participate and to attend the workshops by the duo:
On 29th October in Temple Bar Gallery Studios on 2nd November Vault Studios in Belfast, Chair Futur will give a workshop that will discuss ideas like uses and disruption of technology, body surveillance, and biopower. Participants will also practice DIY facial recognition hacking using open source tools.
The workshops are free but with limited spaces, so booking is essential!
