Hugh Lane Gallery

Basic Space is delighted to present Stéphane Béna Hanly for our September BASIC TALK - 1pm on Friday the 6th of September 2024 at the Hugh Lane Gallery

Stéphane Béna Hanly is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Dublin who works primarily through sculpture, video, sound and performance. His work has featured in exhibitions around Ireland and abroad in Austria, Belgium and Switzerland.

Recently Stéphane wrote and produced a 3 part Fictional radio series, Central Prosthetic City Radio (CPCR) which aired on Dublin Digital Radio in 2022 and featured in Visual Carlow in the Artworks 2023 exhibition emitting from a wall mounted painting of a map as part of an ongoing project, simultaneously mapping out the fictional city of Prostheta and the mind that makes it. Stephane has also been developing his practice around art response with the aim of exploring the relationship between artists, their work and the audience. This has lead to the creation of semi audio and video based pieces under the banner of Visual Radio Art that playfully interacts in response to exhibitions, demonstrating an experimental survey of contemporary art in Ireland.
