As part of The Present Is Not Enough - Part I, Queer Day School in association with Basic Space invites LGBTQ+ people to participate in an experimental workshop at CCA Derry~Londonderry to make zines, short performances and other experimental work about identity, place, belonging and/or the idea of a “queer utopia”. We invite people with already formed ideas or those needing help to start, to make work in a welcoming and safe space which will encourage informal discussion and collaboration. The work made will then be put on public display in the gallery for a late opening that evening. We operate under the radical notion that no forms of expression are wrong.

This event operates under a Safe-space policy. All ages and abilities welcome. Please bring your own materials if possible although basics such as paper, pens, glue and scissors will be available. Feel free to leave when you have completed your work although staying to help others with their work or just using the space to relax and chat is encouraged! All work will be returned to the maker after the late opening and copies kept in our archive. Feel free to email queerdayschool@gmail.com if you have any questions or want to talk about your idea before signing up. If you are based in Belfast we are looking at the possibility of arranging a bus - please email if you are interested.
