Basic Space seeks Co-Director to join the team.

 

About Basic Space:

Basic Space is an independent voluntary art organisation founded in 2010. Basic Space operates a programme of residencies, exhibitions, and educational events, primarily working with emerging and early-career practitioners. The majority of projects are hosted or in collaboration with external institutions, where Basic Space acts as a critical force, challenging attitudes and policy.  Our mission is to generate opportunities for artists and arts practitioners in Ireland within a representative and inclusive framework.

The role:

We are seeking a new Co-Director to join Basic Space in the development and facilitation of our 2025 - 2026 programme, with a specific focus on fundraising and development. 


Responsibilities (shared amongst the Co-Directors):

  • General management, development and administration of the organisation

  • Supporting the Co-Directors in all areas of the organisation including programming, education, fundraising, archiving and more

  • Seeking out funding opportunities

  • Researching and carrying out fundraising campaigns

  • Carrying out and overseeing funding applications

  • Curation and running of our monthly Basic Talks programme at the Hugh Lane Gallery

  • Seeking out opportunities for exhibitions, workshops, artist residencies  

  • Developing relationships and partnerships with external organisations and practitioners

  • Social media and website management

  • Other duties and opportunities as they arise


We seek a Co-Director who is motivated, a team player, able to work on their own initiative, and dedicated to the arts and creating opportunities for artists and arts practitioners. The desirable candidate will have prior experience working in the arts or running creative projects, and should have a background as an artist, curator, project manager, or have a desire to move into this area of work.


Co-Director commitments:

  • Voluntary position

  • Minimum commitment of 1 year 

  • 2-5 hours work per week with flexibility

  • Co-Director meetings on a monthly basis and frequent email communication
