Basic Space is delighted to present artist Pádraig Spillane (Cork, Ireland) for our September BASIC TALK.

Pádraig Spillane works with photography, appropriation and object-based assemblages. Through these various means he explores intersections of desire through imagery, anthropomorphic arrangements, and installation. His employment of materials considers gestural potentials and animations of various forms with works performing as gatherings of disruption and appeal. Recent solo exhibitions: What Passes Between Us, Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Co. Cork, (2017); Shills, 126 Artist-Run Gallery, Galway, (2016). Recent group exhibitions include: Naked Truth, Crawford Art Gallery, Cork, (2018); ART WORKS 2017, VISUAL, Carlow.

There will be a performance by Veins.

BASIC TALKS is a series of talks with leading contemporary practitioners, taking place at The Hugh Lane on the second Friday of every month. Curated by Basic Space in partnership with The Hugh Lane, BASIC TALKS is a platform for lectures, workshops, presentations, and performances. Speakers will include artists, curators, writers, and critics who will generate discourse on producing, framing and exhibiting art. BASIC TALKS is a collaboration between Basic Space and The Hugh Lane, exploring alternatives in the dissemination of contemporary art and its discourses.

Admission is free but spaces are limited to 50 so please arrive promptly to avoid disappointment.
