Basic Space is delighted to present Rosie O’Reilly for our May BASIC TALK.
Rosie O’Reilly is an artist and maker. She is concerned with the rationalist-constructivist view of nature that separates it from experience. She works across audio, sculpture and drawing making site specific and responsive work. Recent collaborative exhibitions include: Tulca 2018, Guest Appearance - Trinity College Dublin, The Museum Building April 2018; ROSC: Fiction of the Contemporary, Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) 2017; PIIGS: An Alternative Geography to Curating, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Turin, Italy 2016. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally including Tombollo 2017, ‘Seasons as Fluid Forms’ Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto Gijon, Spain (2014) NLA III at Museum of Contemporary Art Dublin 2013, 4/704 - The Fringe theatre festival Dublin. She holds an MA from IADT ARC (2018).
Rosie O’Reilly is the 2019 BS/AR (Basic Space Artist Residency) recipient, which took place in partnership with ONONO, a gallery and artist studios in Rotterdam. Rosie received a studio space and accommodation in the city of Rotterdam during the month of March, with support from Basic Space and the ONONO team. Her exhibition at ONONO, Squatting in the human remnants of the machine world, marked the end of her residency. Rosie will discuss her time in Rotterdam during this talk.
BASIC TALKS is a series of talks with leading contemporary practitioners, taking place at The Hugh Lane on the second Friday of every month. Curated by Basic Space in partnership with The Hugh Lane, BASIC TALKS is a platform for lectures, workshops, presentations, and performances. Speakers include artists, curators, writers, and critics who will generate discourse on producing, framing and exhibiting art. BASIC TALKS is a collaboration between Basic Space and The Hugh Lane, exploring alternatives in the dissemination of contemporary art and its discourses.
Admission is free but spaces are limited to 50 so please arrive promptly to avoid disappointment.
