Basic Space is delighted to present writer Sue Rainsford for our December BASIC TALK.

Sue Rainsford is a writer and researcher based in Dublin, Ireland. Her practice is concerned with hybrid, lyric and embodied texts, explicit fusions of critical and corporeal enquiry, as well as with material transcriptions of otherness and experiences that alter our understanding of flesh. A graduate of Trinity College, IADT and Bennington College, Vermont, she is a recipient of the Visual Artists’ Ireland/Dublin City Council Art Writing Award (2017/2018), the Irish Arts Council Literature Bursary Award (2013 & 2018) and a visual arts writer in residence at Roscommon Arts Centre (2018-2019). She was recently awarded a fellowship at the MacDowell Colony, New Hampshire, and her debut novel Follow Me To Ground is available from New Island Books.

BASIC TALKS is a series of talks with leading contemporary practitioners, taking place at The Hugh Lane on the second Friday of every month. Curated by Basic Space in partnership with The Hugh Lane, BASIC TALKS is a platform for lectures, workshops, presentations, and performances. Speakers include artists, curators, writers, and critics who will generate discourse on producing, framing and exhibiting art. BASIC TALKS is a collaboration between Basic Space and The Hugh Lane, exploring alternatives in the dissemination of contemporary art and its discourses.

Basic Talks ~ Sue Rainsford, at The Hugh Lane, is presented as part of Periodical Review #8 at Pallas Projects/Studios, 7th December 2018 – 19th January 2019.
