Eimear Walshe will present their research from the Van Abbemuseum’s Deviant Practices Research Programme.

Eimear Walshe is an artist and writer from Longford specialising in feminist epistemology and queer theory. Walshe’s work seeks to reconcile queer histories with personal or local narratives through fiction, biography, and academic work.

Eimear Walshe has first class honours degrees in Visual Culture (MA, 2015) Sculpture (BA, 2014) from NCAD. Walshe has recently published in Response to a Request (2017), Circa Online Magazine (2017), Paper Visual Art Journal, Having a KiKi: Queer Desire and Public Space, ed. Emma Haugh, (2016). Recent presentations at Van Abbemuseum Deviant Practice Conference (2017), The Jason Oakley Art Writing Panel, VAI Get Together, IMMA (2016), Precarious Subjects Gender and Sexualities Conference (2016), No More Fun and Games by Jesse Jones, Hugh Lane Gallery Dublin (2016), The Visual Artists Workers’ Forum (2015) and Studio Visits with Morgan Quaintance (2015) Recent exhibitions at Hotel Maria Kapel, Hoorn, The Netherlands (2016), Platform Arts, Belfast (2016).

Eimear Walshe receives financial assistance from the Arts Council of Ireland.

BASIC TALKS is a series of talks with leading contemporary practitioners, taking place at The Hugh Lane on the second Friday of every month. Curated by Basic Space in partnership with The Hugh Lane, BASIC TALKS is an open platform for lectures, workshops, presentations and performances. Speakers will include artists, curators, writers and critics who will generate discourse on producing, framing and exhibiting art. BASIC TALKS is a collaboration between Basic Space and The Hugh Lane, exploring alternatives in the dissemination of contemporary art and its discourses.
